In the GAIA-X project, German and French representatives from politics, business, and academia are working with other European partners to develop a concept for the next generation of European data infrastructure: a secure, federal system that meets the highest standards of digital sovereignty while promoting innovation. This project is the basis for an open, transparent, and digital ecosystem in which data and services can be provided, compiled, and shared in a trusting manner.

In June 2020, the German Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy, Peter Altmaier, and the French Minister for Economic Affairs, Bruno Le Maire, presented the concrete steps of the European data infrastructure project GAIA-X. Afterwards, the status quo and the results achieved since the project was announced at the Digital Summit 2019 were presented in a virtual expert forum. New documents on the project were also published. Scheer has contributed to both the business and technical architecture concepts and is playing a major role on the Product & Service Board.
