My “Y” is connecting people, fostering openness, and empowering teams

As a leader and people-connector, I bring honesty to the table and inspire my team to unlock their full potential.

What’s Your Y?

For Alison, the difference in everyday work life begins with genuine connections and honesty. At Scheer, she lives her “Y” every day: “I have personally worked with Scheer as a client, and it is precisely this honest perspective that helps me build trust today, share my experience, and have sincere conversations as equals. That creates genuine connection.”

When everyone on the team shines, the entire organisation grows.

Open doors and open hearts

Alison embraces a flat hierarchy, which she has valued from the start at Scheer: “What I appreciate at Scheer is that anyone can easily speak directly with leadership. This makes us approachable. For me, this sense of accessibility and appreciation is the foundation of our success. That is why my door is always open to my team.”

Within the Australian team, she fosters a culture that allows honest feedback and personal growth: “I openly share my mistakes and lessons learned as well, which shows that we learn together and no one stands alone.” She also champions flexibility, since her team in Australia works sometimes outside regular hours to stay closely connected with colleagues in Europe: “This only works for me if both sides are flexible, which also creates space for family and personal needs.”

Achieving more together

Alison’s “Y” is especially evident in how she leads a team within a global company. The distance from Europe is not only a challenge but also an opportunity for Alison: “In Melbourne, we intentionally create spaces for cohesion, from shared barbecues to office games. These strengthen our sense of belonging.”

For Alison, the principle is clear: when everyone on the team shines, the entire organisation grows. “My task is to help each person find their own sparkle. That is what defines me as a leader.”

This is how Alison embodies the Scheer DNA: curious, open, and purposeful.
