The Evolution of Business Process Management

Behind robotic process automation lies a new approach to process automation. RPA will enable companies to automate the execution of routine processes thereby allowing the use of available resources for processes that add value.

– Prof. August-Wilhelm Scheer, CEO, Scheer Holding

Robotic Process Automation is…

…the evolution of traditional process automation

A no-code approach for the mapping and automation of processes

…the simulation of humans through robots

The software robot simulates the use of existing user interfaces

…the teaching of the robot by the expert user

The department can automate its processes itself

…the use of artificial intelligence

The capture of information from unstructured data

This is how RPA is used

Multi-Channel-Communication

Automation of complex processes

RPA is capable of automating very complex processes, such as support processes with a multi-channel communication strategy. Contact with the customer can take place by email, telephone, chat, fax or messenger. In each case the bot is the first point of contact. It logs the enquiry, categorizes the procedure, asks for missing data and assigns the ticket to the appropriate contact person.

Automatisierung of legacy systems

Modern digitization projects

Important legacy systems such as IBM, Cobold or mainframe systems, still exist in a number of sectors (e.g. the steel industry and insurance etc.). As a rule these are monolithic applications that no one adapts anymore. Because of the non-invasive integration of such systems, RPA offers the optimal solution for the automation of old systems.

Period closing SAP

Automatization of routine tasks

Robotic process automation can be used to completely automate recurring routine tasks such as “quarterly reports” or “period closing” in SAP.

Robotic Process Automation with Scheer BPaaS

With the enhancement of the Scheer BPaaS Agile Application Platform with RPA technology processes can be automated in future without comprehensive programming knowledge. Because of the platform architecture Scheer BPaaS offers the optimal foundation for this work as the typical RPA components are already in place (e.g. process designer, process engine, dashboard amongst others). See the first demonstration of Scheer robotic process automation at the Scheer Digital World Congress in Frankfurt on the 21st September.
