Process Mining as an accelerator for the greenfield approach in the SAP S/4HANA implementation
Since a new SAP system is designed and implemented with the greenfield approach during a SAP S/4HANA transformation, all business processes have to be redefined to get back to the SAP standard and to be able to take advantage of new opportunities. Then, taking into account new structures, companies decide which master data, balances and open processes will be migrated.
How can process mining accelerate the SAP S/4HANA transformation with the greenfield approach?
Processes can only be redefined if it is also known how the processes have worked so far. But in many companies, questions such as "What processes do we use and what do they look like?" or "How can we optimize and standardize our processes?" are asked very frequently. Process mining is a technology for process visualization and answers exactly these questions, among others. It helps to make processes measurable in order to create transparency about the existing system and identify optimization potentials on an operational level.
Once the processes have been visualized, they can be analyzed and compared with standards. Thus, the areas to be migrated can be efficiently uncovered, which reduces project duration and costs. This process can be used to determine the need for the new S/4HANA functions.
