    The Challenges

    • Due to the announced end of maintenance for the catalog software used so far (2022) and for SAP SRM, a new solution became necessary
    • Purchasing association with other Helmholtz centers (e.biss) should continue to exist and be optimized
    • Use of a common catalog with separation of transactional data
    • The user experience for different users / users should be improved

    The Solution

    • Design and implementation of the e.biss procurement platform based on SAP Ariba in a multi-child realm approach at the DKFZ simultaneously with the transformation from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA in a brownfield approach
    • Rollout of the solution to 12 further research centers of the German Helmholtz Research Association
    • Support / Further development

    The Benefit

    • Expansion of existing synergies
    • Mapping of all existing procurement processes in one application
    • No more isolated applications and media discontinuities in the entire procurement process
    • Integrative use of SAP user and master data
    • Flexible interface usage for different user groups
    • Future-proof and sustainable solution in terms of system stability and availability with development potential

Our conclusion after this transformation? With the right partner at our side, we implemented the project in scope, in budget, in time, and got off to a good start with 600 orders within 3 days of go-live.
